The meeting was called to order by President Cardile at 1930 hours. The
group saluted the flag the invocation was given by Chaplain Tim Nessler
Address of welcome was given by Director of the Fire Academy Jim
Schmidt
NEW MEMBERS:
Captain Mike Crier of the Westville Fire Department
Lieutenant Brandon Volpe of the Franklinville Fire Company
Dan Baker motion to accept the gentleman into the Association, seconded
by, Pat Robinson, motion passed.
President Cardile did not administer the Oath of Membership to the new
members.
Hal Brown motion to suspend normal order of business seconded by Pat
Robinson, motion passed.
Brie Renner talked about crisis counseling and Sandy Lynch talked about the
CISD Team availability, contact them through the Communications Center.
MINUTES OF PAST MEETING:
Frank Lambing motion that the minutes of the June meeting be approved as
emailed seconded by, Dan Baker, motion passed.
COUNTY COMMISSIONER REPORT: Commissioner Christy thanked
all for the response and clean up after the tornado that recently struck the
County. He asked all to remember the County 9/11 Ceremony that will be
held in Mantua Township and the Senior picnic.
FIRE MARSHALS REPORT: The following is the report:

Fire Marshal’s Office for the period of June 10, 2021 to September 9, 2021.
Inspections for the period: 1197 Total for the Year: 2,590
Fire Safety Permits: 37 Total for the Year: 74
Fire Investigations for the period: 24 Total for the Year: 69
Fire Fatalities for the period: 0 Total for the Year: 3
Fire Scene Injuries for the period: 2 Total for the year: 11
Juvenile Fire setter actions for the period: 1 Total for the Year: 5
Fire Prevention/K9 Training/Demo for the period: 3
Total for the Year: 14
Fit Testing for Agencies for Period: 0
Total Actions Taken by the Fire Marshal’s Office to date: 1,499

FIRE ACADEMY REPORT: Jim Schmidt reported: With the recent
shared service agreement between the County and RCSJ, Jim Schmidt will
serve as the Fire Academy Director in an administrative role and Bill Bates
is the Fire Academy Training Coordinator overseeing training and education
Report on the Passing of Larry Hurlburt, Larry served as a Fire
Academy Instructor and Deputy County Fire Marshal for many years.
An Memorial service is planned at Gibbstown Fire Co. on Saturday
Sept. 11

· The Fall 2021 Firefighter 1 class started on August 23

with 23
recruits. 5 have dropped from the program
· Auto Extrication 1 is scheduled for Sept 30, Oct 2 & 3

Currently 25 are registered and 5 seats remain
· Auto Extrication 2 is scheduled for Nov 6 & 9

· Upcoming customized training

· The Following departments conducted company drills at the
academy utilizing the class A container, vehicle prop and smoke
house. Woolwich FD, Gibbstown FD, Pitman FD
G.C. EMERGENCY RESPONSE REPORT: Director of Fire
Services Jim Schmidt: PST Supervisor Holstorm provide
communication statics and channel assignment information relating
the tornodo response from last week.
· Information from the NJ Division of Fire Safety relating to
NIFIRS reports and coding regarding storm responses was forwarded
to all Chief’s
FIRE COORDINATION: Dennis Kappler advised during the tornado that
all fire services pulled together for the common good. He advised that there
had been a response by task forces and a good job was done by all.
HAZ-MAT: Nothing to report
GLOUCESTER COUNTY EMS: Nick advised that the County was
looking to hire a few per diem EMT’s. And that the agency was available to
do training again.
N. J. DIVISION OF FIRE SAFETY: No report
N.J. STATE FIREMEN’S RELEIF ASSOCIATION: Glenn Roemmich
advised that the Convention this year will be a walk thru voting session only.
The Convention will be held on Friday, 9/17/21 in Wildwood. This will
be a walk-thru voting convention. Delegates, Alternates and Life
Members can vote between 9am 3pm on Friday, 9/17/21 at the
Convention Center (Fireman’s Hall). There will be no meetings. If there is
a line at 3 pm, the polls will stay open until the last person votes. The
Memorial Service will be posted on the State’s web-site. Delegates will
receive 2 day credit for the convention if they register that day.
Gloucester County Delegates and Life members will receive the following
for convention expenses:
Delegate: With Lodging - $742.00, Commute Only - $159.00
Life Members: With Lodging - $371.00, Commute Only - $80.00
The Trolley that used to run in Wildwood no longer exists, and the Tram Car
on the boardwalk will not be running after Sunday September 12
th
, due to
staffing issues. The 5 Mile Beach Association was working with a Jitney
service for the convention weekend.
At convention Delegates and Life Members will see a Resolution Question
on the ballot. The office received 23 similar resolutions from 7 counties.
Point Pleasant Relief Association was the first that came into the office, so
they were listed as proposing, but know this has received strong support in at
least 7 counties and will appear on the ballot in Wildwood for a vote. Your
vote is important.

FIREMEN’S RELIEF ASSOCIATION
OF POINT PLEASANT BEACH, OCEAN COUNTY
Shall the Resolution of the Point Pleasant Beach Firemen’s Relief
Association, Ocean County, proposing that the New Jersey State Firemen’s
Association seek a change in the existing statutes to eliminate the Board of
Managers and to bring the management, control and oversight of the New
Jersey State Firemen's Home under the New Jersey State Firemen's
Association as one of the many programs it currently offers, be approved.
The Resolution specifically requests the New Jersey State Firemen’s
Association to propose an amendment to the existing statutes to eliminate
the Board of Managers and to bring the management, control, and oversight
of the New Jersey State Firemen's Home under the New Jersey State
Firemen's Association as one of the many programs it currently offers.
N.J. FIREMENS HOME: No report
N.J. EXEMPT ASSOCIATION: Glenn Roemmich reported that the
reorganization meeting will be held in October.
LAW & LEGISLATION: Frank Lambing reported that nothing will be
happening now until after election day.
BANQUET COMMITTEE: Dan Baker advised that the cost of banquet
tickets will remain $ 35.00 each. Tickets will only be sold at October,
November, and December meetings.
AWARDS COMMITTEE: Are due into the committee before December

BEAREAVMENT COMMITTEE: No report
SPECIAL COMMITTEES:
RADIO COMMITTEE: The committee did meet and are working on a few
items for the Operational meeting.
TECH RESCUE: They had 2 responses one in West Deptford and one in
Harrison Twp.
TENDER TASK FORCE: They have a meeting on September 22

Mantua Twp.at 7:30 pm.
FOAM STRIKE TEAM: No report
LARGE DIAMETER HOSE TASK FORCE: They will have a meeting
soon.
RIC COMMITTEE: No report
TRAINING/FIRE ACADEMY COMMITTEE: No report
LEADERSHIP COMMITTEE: No report
STAFFING COMMITTEE: Pat Dolgos advised that the committee had
met and were reviewing the surveys, they found it better to talk in person,
they hope to have a plan for review soon.
ST. FLORIAN COMMITTEE: Nothing to report
CORRESPONDENCE: We received a letter from County Fire
Coordinator Dennis Kappler stating they he will no longer be the
Coordinator after December 31
st
.

$ 831.99 for Bob Hill’s plaque upon his retirement from the Fire Academy
