FIRE ACADEMY & G.C. EMERGENCY RESPONSE CENTER REPORTS: Jim
Schmidt reported that:
1. Fire Academy just added 5 new instructors Dan Dobleman, Eli Hall, Dennis Marchei,
Ralph (Bud) Miller, Skeeter Mitten. (2) additional instructors in the process
2. FF1 recruit class just finished there Hazmat Awareness and Operations section. Thank
you GC HazMat team for assisting.
3. Academy conducted a Heavy Vehicle Extrication Class for Hammonton FD last
weekend.
4. Upcoming Auto Extrication II has a waiting list
5. Building project moving forward, all the trees have been removed to make the training
grounds accessible.
6. Radio shop sent email advising radio upgrades have been completed and to contact
them for any programming needs
7. Radio recorders still pending installation Sta.(s) 9-1, 9-2, 9-3, 9-4 26-1, 28-3, 39-2
He also advised that the tones for the Paramedics has been changed.
FIRE COORDINATION: Dennis Kappler had nothing new to report.
HAZ-MAT: Dennis Kappler reported on an incident that happened in Deptford Township
where a resident had created a suicide bomb, which created a hazardous condition in the home
where he was living. First responders were overcome by fumes from the device. Eight people
were treated and the perpetrator has died. PEOSHA is conducting an investigation of the
response with those involved. He advised all to remain vigilant.
GLOUCESTER COUNTY EMS: Nick advised that they are still available to conduct training
for the departments.
N. J. DIVISION OF FIRE SAFETY: No report
N.J. STATE FIREMEN’S RELEIF ASSOCIATION: Glenn Roemmich reported that the 3
rd
Quarter financial reports are due into the office on October 30
th
. The convention Pink & Blue
reports are due into the office by November 1
st
.
Field Audit will be held on Thursday October 28
th
at the Paulsboro Firehouse from 6 pm to 8
pm. The Secretaries and Treasurers should have received a letter regarding the audit. I have a
few forms of what they will be looking at during the audit.
There will be a special caucus held in Ocean County in November to elect a new Executive
Committeeperson. Jennie Hollingsworth has been hired as an administrative assistant to Field
Examiner James Kenney, upon Jim Kenny’s retirement, she will be the new Field Examiner.
