FIRE ACADEMY DIRECTOR’S REPORT
REPORTING MONTH: SEPTEMBER 2020
GLOUCESTER COUNTY FIRE ACADEMY
FIREFIGHTER 1
Spring program completed. 8 students successfully completed the program. Two students
completed their training at their respective home academies. Two students have yet to
successfully complete one or more exams.
I am working on an idea that if acceptable to the college, will enable us to recognize the
spring class out of doors.
Resulting from approval of my academy re-opening plan, the academy is opened for usage.
Members wishing to use the drill ground are asked to provide the academy with a list of
attendees and a temperature taken prior to the training. If you need assistance, see one of our
staff members.
The fall Firefighter 1 class is underway with 16 students. Proper distancing, facial coverings,
and temperature checks are the new norm for the class.
OPEN CLASSES:
The academy is planning to host both an Auto Extrication 1 and an Auto Extrication 2
program in the coming weeks. Unfortunately due to the cost of renting a forklift, needed
to move the vehicles, there is a possibility that the classes might b cancelled. Presently
we are working with Y-By rental seeking a lower cost and we are petitioning the college
seeking approval for funding this effort.
In the coming weeks, additional programs will be offered at the academy. Space will be
limited so early registration is recommended.

Good evening first I would like to congratulate Glenn for his reelection.
This year we had 5 managers up for reelection and one for a 1 year unexpired term for Bergen
County Manager John Veras witch is now our new Superintendent, also Our Manager for
Monmouth County decided not to re run , and they where the only two county's to have any
opposition. That being said our new Manager for Bergen County is Peter Jeffer, and the new
Manager for Monmouth County is Nicholas Giglio Jr. The remaining 4 Mangers will remain the
same.
In regard’s to our Guests staying at the home there are 37 now and buy the end of the month
and additional 8 will be moving in. Visitation from the outside has resumed for the Guests, as
we check temps and they must were masks. Our new Bus for the Guests is due to arrive by the
end of September. Last but not least our addition has a setback on the bridge that connects the
old building to the new one causing a delay. The DCA is looking over the Bridge changes, and
the new completion date is on or before January.
Respectfully submitted
