GLOUCESTER COUNTY FIRE CHIEF’S ASSOCIATION
ANNUAL BANQUET
MASSO’S CATERING BALLROOM
January 10, 2019
The annual banquet was called to order by President Matt Cardile 19:13
hours, the group then saluted the flag had a moment of silence for our fallen
brothers and sisters, then the invocation was given by Chaplain Rev. Tim
Nessler.
Bill Ross motion to dispense with the regular order of business, seconded by
Ed Johnson, motion passed.
President Cardile then welcomed everyone and introduced quests and Past
Presidents in attendance.
President Cardile then called on Freeholder Director Robert Damminger and
Freeholder Dan Christy who will be our new liaison. Both Freeholder
Damminger and Christy spoke to the Association. Surrogate Chila was
introduced also. Freeholder Christy then administered the Oath of Office to
the 2019 Officers and the County Fire Marshal and Deputy Marshals.
Following the swearing in of the Association Officers.
President Cardile then gave a few remarks on where he believes the
organization is headed and a few of his ideas for the Association to continue
with and to move forward.
Dinner was then served by the staff at Masso’s.
President Cardile then introduced the Municipal Politicians that were in
attendance.
President Cardile then introduced the guest speaker: Philadelphia Fire
Commissioner Adam K. Thiel. Who spoke to the group, regarding the fire
service, and some of the issues that are important to the fire service.
President Cardile then called upon the bereavement committee who
conducted a short memorial service to remember those who had passed away
during 2018.
President Cardile then called on the awards committee. The awards
committee had presented awards, from unit citations to Life Saving awards.
Chief Drew Sole of the Wenonah Fire Company was called to the stage by
President Cardile, Chief Sole has retired from the position of Chief at the
Wenonah Fire Companies election. President Cardile, presented Chief Sole
with a plague and the Freeholders presented him a proclamation for his
dedicated service to the residents of Wenonah and the County.
President Cardile then call Surrogate Chila up and presented him with a
plague for his continued assistance and report as our Liaison from the
Freeholder board.
Bill Ross received a $ 50.00 gift card for Rhode’s Fireside in Swedesboro,
from President Cardile for his service as Vice-President.
The banquet committee then awarded door prizes and the large raffles.
President Cardile then thanked the banquet committee for another job well
done on the banquet.
President Cardile announced to the group that earlier today Fire Marshal Ed
Johnson turned in his resignation to be effective on the January 31
st
.
The place of the next meeting will be the Fisher Street Station (Helping
Hand) in Deptford Township hosted by the Tacoma Fire Company on
Thursday February 14
th
2019 at 19:30 hours.
Motion made by Frank Rehman to adjourn, seconded by Kyle Adams,
motion passed.
The meeting adjourned at 21:20 hours.
