FIRE ACADEMY GENERAL BUSINESS
Work has begun on the development of a NJ Firefighter II program
with delivery this fall. Announcement and registration will begin next
month.
As means to be able to maintain the roof simulator prop, a usage fee
will be assessed. The nominal cost will only consider the cost of
replacing plywood.
Chiefs are asked to monitor prop reservation for drill nights. This
spring a few companies have repeatedly cancelled with short notice
to the academy. The reason cited, poor turnout. Please consider that
to aid with the drill, academy staff set aside personal activities. The
short notice is understood where the unexpected occurs.
Going forward, the academy will document and notify fire service
agencies who repeatedly cancel training. If the problem continues,
these companies may be assessed a training fee for future
cancellations. The fee assessment activity is how Camden County
addresses the same problem. Suggestion: where fewer members are
available for the drill, come to the academy and our staff will work
with you to modify the drill.
