The meeting was called to order by President Cardile at 1930 hours. The
group saluted the flag the invocation was given by Secretary Glenn
Roemmich.
Address of welcome was given by Chief Joe Marchei of the Aura Fire
Company, he advised all to keep the date of June 10

open as Aura will
celebrate their 80
th

NEW MEMBERS:

Pat Robinson motion to accept the Officers into the Association, seconded
by, Rick Thomas, motion passed.
President Cardile then administered the Oath of Membership to the members
accepted tonight.
MINUTES OF PAST MEETING:
Bill Beckett motion that the minutes of the March meeting be approved as
emailed seconded by, Bill McNulty motion passed.
FREEHOLDER REPORT: Freeholder Chila was unable to attend the
meeting.

FIRE ACADEMY DIRECTOR’S REPORT
REPORTING MONTH: April 13, 2017
GLOUCESTER COUNTY FIRE ACADEMY
FIREFIGHTER 1
Spring semester underway with 13 students participating.
Graduation, May 25, 1900 @ Fine Arts Bldg.
Work has started to complete and publish a fall semester
program
FIRE ACADEMY GENERAL BUSINESS
Repairs have been completed on the aircraft.
Vehicle prop will be tested next week then placed in-service
Pleased to report that due to an increase in enrollments all of the
academy’s programs are running as scheduled.
Work beginning on the development of a NJ Firefighter II program
with delivery this fall.
TRAINING & EDUCATION ADVISORY COUNCIL
I met with members of my Hazardous Materials Committee. Some
progress has been made on the development of the On-scene Incident
Commander program. A few issues yet to be resolved. I am awaiting
the purchase of a test bank so that the exam work group can begin
validating the questions.
Next week the council will vote on whether to approve the driver
training program. I have complete confidence that the program will be
approved. A request has been made for the purchase of exam
questions for this program. I have also requested that the appropriate
work group begin to format the driving skills exam worksheets. My
goal, is to have the program ready for Train-the-Trainers by the fall of
2017.
DIVISION OF FIRE SAFETY: No report

G.C. EMERGENCY RESPONSE REPORT: Director Tom Butts was
unable to attend the meeting, but Director of Fire Services Jim Schmidt
reported that there is a response change for the County Fire Marshal’s
Office, they will no longer be on auto response to alarm systems in County
buildings, however if you have a fire or injury contact the Fire Marshal’s
office.
The numbering of the County Task Forces is being loaded into the computer
at the center, once that has been completed the Task Forces will begin using
their new assigned radio numbers. Within the last few weeks most of the
Task Forces have been activated and used at different incidents.
Jim stated that resource typing will be beneficial to the Communications
Center. He was questioned why he had a change of opinion. Jim stated he
was always for resource typing, he only questioned if vehicle numbering
was going to change.
FIRE COORDINATION: Dennis Kappler was unable to attend the
meeting as he was attending the NENA conference in Atlantic City.
NEPTUNE: No Report

GLOUCESTER COUNTY EMS: No Report
N. J. DIVISION OF FIRE SAFETY: No Report
N.J. STATE FIREMEN’S RELEIF ASSOCIATION: Bill McNulty
reported that quarterly financial reports are due into the state office by April
30
th
and the delegates list for convention are due into the state office is due
by May 1
st
. Once the local association has filed its 990 with the IRS then a
copy needs to be sent to the office also.
The State Association has purchased land in Wall Township for the
construction of a new office. A contractor has been selected and they are
awaiting planning board approval.
Bill reminds everyone that the Convention in Wildwood will be September
15
th
& 16
th
. The County Caucus will be held on August 17
th
at the Whitman
Square Fire Company on Johnson Road.
N.J. FIREMENS HOME: Harry Strube stated that the Home had passed
their State inspection with no deficiencies. They are continuing to work on
the budget. A meeting of the memory care committee will be held on April
25
th
. The Home currently has to turn down about half of the applicants to
the Home because they require some sort of memory care.
N.J. EXEMPT ASSOCIATION: Glenn Roemmich reported that
paperwork for ads for the convention ad book are out, the cut off for the ads
is May 15
th
. The Convention will be in Hackettstown in June. The
Memorial Service will be in Paulsboro on Saturday April 22
nd
at 11:00 am.
LAW & LEGISLATION: Frank Lambing reported that there is nothing
new as the State is working on the budget.
BANQUET COMMITTEE: Vice-President Bill Ross reported that the
committee had received the contract from Auletto’s and that the contract was
accepted. The cost per person for the meal is $ 29.70 per meal.
AWARDS COMMITTEE: No Report
ST. FLORIAN COMMITTEE: The service is on Sunday May 7
th
.
President Cardile asks for at least one vehicle from each station for a large
showing. He will sending out a flyer via email.

Please be advised that on Wednesday March 8, 2017, members of the
associations auditing committee met with association treasurer Robert Hill
and reviewed our ledger, statements and other documents. All was in order.
Committee members in attendance signed the ledger verifying our review.
BY-LAW COMMITTEE: No Report
BEAREAVMENT COMMITTEE: Rick Thomas reported that the
committee will need assistance on Tuesday at 10 AM at Budds Funeral
Home. And on Wednesday at the Brooklawn Firehouse to assist with
funeral details.
SPECIAL COMMITTEES:
RADIO COMMITTEE: The Forestry service will be getting their radios
upgraded so that they can talk with our fire units. An MOU has to be signed
between the County and the State.
Russ Lawrence from the Communications Center will making contact to
come out and upgrade the radios.
An operational vote on Resource Typing will take place during the May
meeting.
TECH RESCUE: Secretary did not receive the report.
TENDER TASK FORCE: Bob Bramble stated that their next meeting will
be held on May 4
th
at Malaga FD. Their drill will be held on May 6
th
in East
Greenwich Township.
FOAM STRIKE TEAM: Jeff Pfeiffer advised that in May they will be
training on the Foam Tender. And Pat Robinson was working with the Task
Force for foam protocol and foam awareness for the task force members.
LARGE DIAMETER HOSE TASK FORCE: Eric Farley advised that the
packets had been printed, which will be reviewed, and hope to have a drill
sometime during the summer.
TRAINING/FIRE ACADEMY COMMITTEE: President Cardile has
had conversation with Freeholder Chila and County Administrator Chad
Bruner, more information to be forth coming in the near future.

President Cardile and Dan DeBear worked on the web site yesterday and it is
up and running.
Mike Divito from the County Incident Management Team is looking for a
replacement from our group to serve on the Team. President Cardile will
work on this and report on it during the May meeting.
NEW BUSINESS:
President Cardile advised that Cooper Hospital wants to attend a meeting to
talk about cancer screenings and physicals. The body felt this would be a
good idea.
