OFFICER'S ASSOCIATION
ANNUAL BANQUET
MASSO’S CRYSTAL BALLROOM
January 8, 2015
The annual banquet was called to order by President Zimm at 1900 hours, at
which times he welcomed all of those in attendance. Joe Petsch motion to
dispense with the regular order of business, seconded by Al Giampola,
motion passed.
The group then saluted the flag and the invocation was given by Chaplain
Rev. Kevin Davis.
President Zimm then introduced some of the quests and past presidents that
were in attendance, which was followed by dinner, served by the staff of
Masso’s.
President Zimm then introduced the remaining quests in attendance and
guest speaker Deputy Chief James P. Smith, retired, of the Philadelphia Fire
Department, who the spoke on the Arco Refinery fire which took place on
August 17, 1975 which resulted in the death of eight firefighters, injured 14
other firefighters and the loss of four apparatus.
President Zimm then called on Freeholder Chila to administer the Oath of
office to the 2015 Officers. Following the swearing in of the Association
Officers, Freeholder Chila then administered the Oath of Office to Fire
Marshal Ed Johnson.
The bereavement committee the conducted a short memorial service to
remember those who had passed away during 2014 including Honorary
Firefighter Aiden Riebel of the Washington Twp. Fire Department and Past
President Bill Albers of the Pitman Fire Department, it was during past
President Albers term that the annual banquet had started.
A slide show presentation of pictures and events of 2014 was shown by Bill
Rieger III. President Zimm thanked Bill for the outstanding job he did on
the slide show.
President Zimm then called on the awards committee. The bereavement
committee was awarded a unit citation for the work that they have done and
Chairman Eric Farley of the bereavement committee was awarded a
distinguished service award for his work with the committee.
The banquet committee then awarded door prizes and the large raffles, the
Flyers tickets were won by Bill McNulty, and the radio was won by Chief
Rob Gould.
President Zimm then thanked the banquet committee for another job well
done on the banquet.
The place of the next meeting will be the Colonial Manor Fire Company
Thursday February 12
th
2015 at 1930 hours.
Benediction was then given by Chaplain Rev. Keven Davis.
Motion made by Steve Smith to adjourn, seconded by many, motion passed.
The meeting adjourned at 2045 hours.
